What is the A.K.C?

The American Kennel Club, a not-for-profit organization, is the nation’s oldest, largest, and most esteemed purebred dog registry. The AKC Mission Statement: The American Kennel Club is dedicated to upholding the integrity of its Registry, promoting the sport of purebred dogs and breeding for type and function.

We know how important it is to maintain a healthy relationship with all our customers both human and canine.

Dogs vary a great deal in age, weight, health, temperament, and general behavior, so we treat each dog individually and try our utmost to provide outstanding service each and every time we see your pooch.

Meet the Team

Nataly

Hello, I would love to meet you dog! I am Nataly, a Dog lover, Disney fan & a proud dog mom of a Chihuahua named Paquita. I love to interact with people & be organized

Denisse

Hi l'm Denisse. I graduated high school in June this year. I love spending time with animals since I was little, and this is because they can teach you more than you expect. In the last months l've learned that patience and dedication are fundamental keys to understand our pets needs. I am looking forward to keep learning the importance appropriate to taking care of our little friends 4 and give them the best treatment at our services, as well as their owners

Ivanna

My dad taught me not to be afraid of hard work and I have always loved dogs. Being with dogs entertains me and it gives me great satisfaction to see the final result, all clean and fluffy. Making a connection with them is one of the best feelings

Karina

My first pet was a cocker spaniel named Daisy. I loved playing with her, feeding her, smelling her, she was my companion everywhere and in everything I did (besides my brother). Years after we adopted a cat from the shelter, I remember begging and begging my parents to get a cat. I even wrote them letters of why I wanted a cat and how I was going to take care of her. I remember the day she came home she was so terrified she hid behind the couch for days but eventually she came out and became part of the family, I also named her Daisy.  When Daisy the 2nd passed we went to the shelter and adopted a beautiful Siberian looking cat with green/yellow eyes. I remember my arms would always be scratched but I just loved her, I didn’t mind at all. Can you guess what her name was? Yup Daisy again, it’s a bit ironic since us groomers are supposed to be very creative…I guess I lack that in naming.

As a little girl it was clear for me that I wanted to be a Veterinarian. I started to grow up and I started thinking of a career path so  I decided that I wanted to work with animals and made the decision to be a Veterinarian. I was living on my own, working and going to college. Suddenly  I realized that it was going to take a long time (FOREVER) to graduate so I decided that I wanted to work in a field while going to school so that I would be able to work with animals.

I researched and I finally landed on DOG GROOMER, at the moment I had the cutest dog named Greñas and I took a course/certification and practiced on him. To this day I believe Greñas was a human soul, I can’t even begin to explain the connection we had with each other (he’s the dog tattooed on my arm).     I started working as a groomer from home because that way I was able to continue going to school and set my own work schedule. Eventually I rented a space/section inside a grooming salon. Shortly after I realized I had a passion for my work and that I was highly talented as a groomer. I had a lot of customers and said to myself “I have a passion for this profession, I am going to open my own shop” easier said than done right? But in February of 2016 Urban Pet was opened. I wanted to offer superior service and quality and I stand by that to this day. Quality above Quantity. I have to admit it was not an easy process opening my own shop, there was more to it than I could have ever imagined.

With time I began to get extremely busy, so I hired on help; reception, bather(s), groomer(s), talented people who also share my passion and ideals  to be able to fulfill the demand. However we do work with the same ideals; by appointments, we do not overbook ourselves, have determined grooming times, safety, comprehension, technique, organization, communication, discipline, cleanliness, transparency, commitment, attention to detail, and passion for what we do. Today I have more than 10 years of experience working as a professional Certified Dog Groomer through IPG International Professional Groomers. Me and my shop are proudly certified as AKC S.A.F.E as well.

I am a doggie/cat mom of four; Marley (13 year old Doberman), Frida (7 year old French Bulldog), Vitola (5 year old Great Dane) and Gizmo AKA Guizzy Boy (13 year old Persian cat, who by the way used to be my customer) I am happily married and a mother of two beautiful little girls so yea I am always busy but in love with my life.

I am extremely grateful for all the support the community has given me through these past 7 years and our AWESOME customers who spread the word about us. Urban Pet is not just a groomer, it’s a team of passionate individuals who strive to give their all in their work. I could not be more happy and grateful with the employees who have helped shape what we are.

frequently ask question

Yes, please do! Our salon is in high demand, which means we tend to book our days well in advance.

It’s important to have your puppy groomed as soon as possible so they can get used to and learn to love the grooming experience. Their vaccines need to be finished and wait 10 days before they can enter our facility.  During their first visit your puppy will be introduced in a relaxed and fun way to the sights, sounds and smells of the grooming salon ensuring that future visits are stress free.

No, we don’t offer sedation services. We are also unable to accept pets who have been sedated for safety reasons.

Please keep in mind that we are adept at working with animals that experience anxiety or are averse to grooming, so there’s a good chance we can work with your pet even if there are some concerns. Be sure to let us know at booking if you have specialized concerns about your pet’s anxiety.

Yes, we do treat your furry friends for flea and tick removal shampoo. However we DO NOT accept dogs with ticks or dogs that are flea infested. The shampoo will only kill the fleas of your pet but IT IS NOT A TREATMENT so please make sure you have cleaned their living space and get them on a treatment. Per our policies all pets must be on a flea and tick treatment. Please let us know if your pet has fleas or ticks before bringing them in for their appointment.

Every dog and situation is different so an exact time cannot be given however we try to maintain ourselves within a time frame. Approximate times for bath: 1 and a half hours+, Touch up: 2 and a half hours+ and Grooming: 3 and a half hours+ but the time taken will also depend on the condition and length of your pooch’s hair as well the size. You will be notified if the service will tae longer and you will also be notified 10-30 minutes before your pet is ready so you can start heading your way. If you arrive before the time we notified you please wait outside until the time elapses. If your pet sees you and is still on the grooming he/she will get excited and start moving on table THIS IS SO DANGEROUS  it could cause an accident.

Pricing depends on breed, size, hair length, skin, temperament, age, coat condition, cut desired, shedding, and grooming history.

As your furry friend loves you very much they will wiggle and move around trying to get close to you which is not safe while we’re working on them.  It is best to drop off your pooch at their scheduled appointment time, and then come back when the treatment is finished.

Before your pet comes to the grooming we strongly recommend they have a chance to relieve themselves. They may want to have a meal beforehand, but keep in mind if your pet is nervous, they might do better with an empty stomach. Make sure you walk them in on a  secure collar and leash, bringing them in in arms could cause them anxiety. Speaking of anxiety…if your pet has anxiety make sure you are also relaxed and confident this will transmit to them (a nice walk prior to their visit is a great idea!)

Customers new to the grooming place need to complete a New Client Registration form which enables us to provide an individualized treatment and care program for your pooch when they visit us.  You might receive a Text or e-mail with your form ready to fill and submit. Please make sure you fill out and submit prior to your arrival.

The length and type of your pet’s coat will determine how often your pet needs to be groomed. Baths can be done every two weeks. Touch ups every four weeks and groomings every 6-8 weeks, as mentioned before depends on each dog and also your personal preference. We do not recommend waiting too long in between grooms/baths/touchups, 2 months MAX!

Your dog’s nails should be trimmed monthly.

Yes.  However aged, disabled, and ill pets required specialist treatment during the grooming process.  If in any doubts please consult your vet who will help you to decide whether there would be any adverse risk in grooming your older dog.

If for any reason you are not satisfied with the treatment received, please advise within 2 business days so we can do our best to fix it.  Our clients satisfaction is important to us.

We accept cash, all cards, Venmo & Paypal.
