Urban Pet is looking for a Pet Groomer

to join our team! We are a busy grooming shop and looking for that special someone to fill our groomer position.

This position will range between 16-32 hours per week.

Position Requirements:
Experience of at least 2 years

Duties and Responsibilities:

Bathe dogs of all sizes (occasionally cats), including clipping, hand scissoring, medicated and general cleansing, parasite control baths, medicated dips and ear cleansing, anal glands, as required for each pet.
Observe pets appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease and discontent, in order to notify owners.
Apply knowledge and skills in controlling and/or handling individual animal temperament. Possess ability to gain animal confidence when restraining them for grooming.
Admit pets to be groomed noting the owner’s specific instructions and pick up time.
Perform all general maintenance of grooming room; clean cages, tubs, grooming tables, vacuum floor; mop floor, empty trash, clean clipper blades, scissors and brushes after use; perform monthly dryer and clipper maintenance.
Groom utilizing techniques which vary depending on type of hair, coat, breed and owner instructions; bathe and dry animals.
Knowledge of grooming practices including hand-scissoring skills, fluff drying, specific breed cuts, etc.
Ability to recognize that teamwork is essential for a quality practice.
Willingness to stay after hours or work extra hours when needed, especially during holidays.
Display tact and diplomacy with staff members and clients.
Possess above average customer service skills (answer phone, receive/check out customers, schedule appointments, capturing information.)

Our ideal candidate has to LOVE to work with dogs/cats,

be self-motivated, a team player, patient and have a willingness to learn. Also, must be comfortable lifting up to 60lbs and MUST be available to work Monday – Saturdays.
